Angels’ Place Race partners with Deer Lake Athletic Club for free fitness & training program for registered participants

March 3, 2020, Clarkston, MICH. – Angels’ Place Race, a 5k/10k run in Clarkston, Mich., has once again partnered up with Deer Lake Athletic Club to increase the organization’s impact in the community by offering free strength training classes and guided running program to race participants.

To expand upon its couch-to-5k training program, Angels’ Place Race has teamed up with Clarkston’s Deer Lake Athletic Club to offer a free, 5-week strength and conditioning program. Held at Deer Lake Athletic Club, the 50-minute fitness classes will meet Wednesday evenings starting April 1. Participants do not need to be members of the athletic club.  All will be asked to check in at the front desk.

“We’re excited to offer this free strength training program to Angels’ Place Race participants again this year,” said Marlene Powell, Fitness Director, Deer Lake Athletic Club. “We are bringing two great community organizations together to increase the overall health and wellness of Clarkston-area residents.”

In addition to the fitness classes, individuals will have the option to participate in a virtual running club using a couch-to-5k app with support from experienced Angels’ Place Race personnel.

This comprehensive training program, ideal for beginners as well as more veteran runners, is free to all registered participants of the 13th Annual Angels’ Place Race. The program is led by NASM-certified personal trainer, Patti Braunreuther.

Interested individuals should register for the May 16 race, (either online or by downloading the manual registration form), and bring a completed training program waiver to the first class on April 1. Registration and waiver forms can be found here: and will also be available at Deer Lake Athletic Club.
