The 11th annual Angels’ Place Race will be held on Saturday, May 12 in Clarkston.
The charity race includes a 10k run, 5k run/walk and one-mile family fun walk. All proceeds benefit Southfield, Michigan-based Angels’ Place, a non-profit organization that provides homes and services for adults with developmental disabilities.
“Angels’ Place is doing amazing work throughout Oakland County and beyond,” said Paul Maxwell, race director. “We are grateful for the support of our runners, walkers, sponsors and Clarkston community, which enables us to help Angels’ Place further their mission of serving developmentally disabled adults.”
Twenty residential homes in Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties offer residents a family environment focused on dignity, acceptance and personal wellbeing and growth.
The annual race takes place in Clarkston with a course that takes runners and walkers through the town’s main street, nearby park and surrounding neighborhood. Race participants receive a custom designed tech shirt (subject to availability for anyone registering after April 25), post-race snacks and the opportunity to win door prizes from local restaurants and businesses. Race awards will also be given to the top three finishers in each category, as well as overall winners, for the 10k run, 5k run and 5k walk. In addition, the top male and female finishers in the 10k run will receive a $100 Runnin’ Gear gift card.
